Janean Acevedo Daniels is a Santa Barbara attorney who practices employment law and civil litigation. Ms. Daniels advises and represents employers in connection with a full-range of employment and human resources issues, including employment practices and policies, compliance, wage and hour, and employee disputes and claims. She conducts internal investigations on behalf of company management regarding employee complaints and misconduct. She also provides employee and management training in assuring compliance and avoiding liability in hiring and terminations, diversity, disability accommodation, sexual and other unlawful harassment, and performance appraisals. Ms. Daniels serves as general counsel to a national information technology and environmental services firm, and as employment counsel to a variety of companies and non-profit enterprises. She also represents employees and other injured individuals in wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, and other actions.

In counseling employers, Ms. Daniels works closely with senior managers and human resources professionals to advance critical business goals, promote employee productivity and morale, and protect companies from liability. Ms. Daniels collaborates with her clients on a wide range of personnel issues, including formulating employment policies, providing guidance and training for executives, managers and HR professionals on human resources matters; reviewing and improving hiring, termination, and other personnel file documentation; providing guidance on equal employment opportunity, pregnancy and other disability accommodation, employee leave, wage and hour, and other compliance issues; conducting workplace investigations; responding to and defending discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination and whistle blower complaints; and assisting with employee hiring and separations.

Ms. Daniels' practice and philosophy is to create a comfortable, ongoing relationship with her employer clients, to involve and seek input from executives, senior managers and HR professionals in dealing with personnel issues, and to vigorously advance her clients' values and interests in responding to employee problems.
